Oil Rail end caps

Hi There folks

I am in the middle of doing my injector sleeves.

Bit of a note worthy find as the rocker cover came of was the lengths of rubber I found around the "oil rail end caps", at each end.

I found that the O rings had split. These had to have been leaking, no doubts about it.

I also found they were 1 step above finger tight, now this could be due to either:

1. O ring failing, then the tension is lost on the cap

2. Not secured correctly, so the O ring came out.

My observations of this O ring failure have me thinking they were fitted dry, and as it was tensioned, the friction has torn the seals, and then the high oil pressure behind has pushed them out. The section of the O rings look to be OK, I have come across this damage before when a thick O ring section is used, they tend to be shaved on assembly when too large in the section.

Something to look out for Folks.

I did a search and found no results of the terms "Oil Rail end Caps", so from that I have assumed no one has discussed this before, or I may find it burried somewhere.

I have pics, and shall find out how to put them here.

Cheers

Dave
