Hello. Thanks for a great forum. Recently Hwy driving 2000 3.0ltr T/D man, I noticed slight change in induction noise and poor old Jack (done 285,000km from new great vehicle) started loosing a bit of power. I suspected a failing injector. Went to local Isuzu dealer (live Southwest of WA) they said Tech2 failed to get any response from no3 injector.
I don't have much $ at ther moment so I went to the wreckers and bought a set of used injectors for $100. The wrecking yard let me remove them from the engine myself. It appeared the engine had been thru recall as there was a new ID label on the engine cover. (also last year I purchased the turbo from this engine and it has been faultless)The injectors looked pretty good. Wen t home, removed no3 injector and replaced it with one of the new 2nd hand ones, and replaced the injector harness. I didn't replace the injector seals...just left it as is. Started her up and she ran very rough, seemed to be dumping fuel into the cyl, excessive dark smoke. I shut it down and reinstalled the original one so I could get to work the next day. Today I decided to try and test the 2nd hand injectors so I externally connected a spare harness to the main computer/harness plug and one at a time connected the injectors, then cranked the engine. Each injector 'clicked' when cranked.
Does anyone have any ideas? Would this prove the injector is working ok. If so should I put new seals on and install it then go to Isuzu and get the injector programmed.
Past work...IGM recall 160,000k injectors, harness, sleeves replaced. Did seals again shortley after - think they stuffed it up. Oil pick up dropped off whilst idling which eventually caused turbo failure 250,000k which I replaced myself.
Appreciate any comments.
