G'day chaps!
My Jackaroo has been making some strange noises of late, well at least ones I consider to be out of the norm. The one that worries me the most is a knocking sound present only while the engine is below operating temp, and the vehicle is in gear. Its definitely louder under load, but doesn't appear to be linked to engine RPM. As soon as she reaches operating temp, the Knock disappears. I am at a bit of a loss as to what could be causing that one.
One of the other noises that developed recently is a hissing/sucking sound heard after the engine is shut off. I found it to be coming from a cylindrical black plastic valve at the top right-hand side of the engine, near the firewall. I imagine its to do with the vacuum system, but not sure what exactly or why its decided to start hissing on shutdown all of a sudden. Can anyone shed light on that one? Its probably simple, but goes beyond my quite limited knowledge :-P I am chasing an oscillating idle, and wonder if that could be at all related?
