My 2009 DMax, with 216,000ks on the clock, has recently started dropping fuel out of the little tube with the 'u' bend in it next to the fuel water drain on the left had side of the engine bay - it makes a real mess as the fuel runs all over the inner guard and chassis and stinks. As a work-around I have run a bit of vacuum hose off this tube into a Coke bottle cable-tied to the firewall
I followed this tube back to the fuel filter - it appears to go into the top of the filter next to the filter clogged switch. So I am guessing the problem is something to do with the filter. However, the filter clogged light is not on, apart from when it self-tests when the ignition is turned on.
Where it gets a bit confusing is that my manual for an RA7 doesn't show this pipe, so it must be a feature added later in the model run. Has anyone come across this issue before?
I am going to get a new filter element and see if that fixes the issue, but the fact that the clog light doesn't come on is a concern.
