Rodeo 4x4 RA 2005 4JH1TC - Fuel gauge issue

G'day guys,

I have as the title suggests a 2005 4x4 Holden Rodeo with a 4JH1TC in it. For those of you who don't know (me up until a couple of days ago) it is 3.0L TD 4 cyl.

Now the issue I have is that my fuel gauge one day showed that I was using about 20L per 5 km's so I initially thought I blew a fuel line or had a hole in my tank. However that wasn't the case. So I pulled out my fuel tank, check the fuel sender unit and it was registering fine.

At full tank it measures 120 ohms and at empty 20 ohms (roughly - also I might have that the wrong way around??)

The connector was all corroded up so I cleaned it and thought "ahh now I've got it sussed" well that wasn't the case either.

So I tested it through the connector and by striping back some insulation (handy being a sparky) but it worked fine.

So this is what I know:

1) The fuel sender unit is behaving properly (as far as I can tell)

2) The connector is successfully working properly

3) I DO NOT get any 12v coming down to the fuel sender unit with the Key turned to the ON position

4) I've checked every fuse that I can find and none are blown

Does anyone know or could anyone give me an idea what to do next? Short of pulling the dash forward to test the cabling coming out of the cluster?

Appreciate any constructive comments.

Steve
