Hey guys, need help. Long story so here goes:
2000 MODEL Jackaroo 3.0L Turbo Diesel Automatic 177,000kms
10 days ago I parked the car up to go away. Everything was fine. Came back and the car fired up straight away and ran for about 30 secs then stalled. Took some cranking to get going again. Drove it 30kms to work and it stalled a couple of times at revs and at idle. Got better after about 20kms of that drive. Drove home ok and only hesitated a couple of times at revs. That arvo I cleaned out the connector for the injector harness. Seemed to run nice after I did that.
Next day, same thing happened in the morning. Fired up after a couple of cranking attempts. Engine cut out on me more on the way to work, at revs and idle.
Started to ping for the last 2 kms and then sorted itself out after that.
Now the Jack will intermittently be hard to start, run well, stagger, blow white smoke, stall. Yes it does all of these things intermittently.
I have had the car for 2 years and has been great. Replaced the ORPS 2 years ago when I got the car. Car was due for a service at 180,00kms (3000ks away)
Things to note - went 4WD and did some water work about 4 weeks ago (no problem until it was parked up for 10days) - put a bottle of Wurths injector cleaner in the tank about 5 weeks ago.
Now here is a list of the thing I have done to try and rectify the issue:
Fuel Filter replacement and clean pump head (small copper filter and oneway valve clean) - filter was about half full of water - last changed 2 years ago
Cleaned the connector for the injector harness
Oil and both filters replaced
Snapon Diagnostic tool on the harness - no fault code
No engine check light
TPS working ok
No diesel in oil, no diesel in coolant
Not sure what to do. These things aren't worth a whole lot and don't want to overcapitalise on it. It has been a good car and great to drive until now.
Any ideas???? or anyone had this same problem that can part with some knowledge is greatly appreciated. Such a pain in the a** intermittent fault.
Might end up wrecking this thing if I have no luck repairing it.
Cheers,
Jez
