My 00 V6 alternator recently packed it in. In our enthusiasm, my brother and I decided we'd have a crack at replacing it ourselves. Seems to be stumbling point after stumbling point. First question is what unit would you use. I was told it was an OEX unit by my mechanic and Ashdowns. The 4003 I believe... don't have the serial on me at the moment. All good until the terminal was found to be different. Simple fix, just get the new loom from Ashdowns. Then when I tried to install it I found that the mounting bolt centers are not the same, the new unit is ~2mm less than the old unit. My question is are the mounts adjustable in the engine, or have I been lead up a creek in terms of the alternator I should be using?
Cheers,
Dono
