Hi gurus. I drive a 2002 trooper with a 4jx1 motor. For the last 2 or 3 weeks, once the motor reached its normal operating temp, the engine speed (rpm) would surge 200-400rpm. No fixed interval and only for a split second. This commonly experienced at idle. The RPCV has been cleaned and the mechanic looking at it thought that air might be getting into the fuel system (i disagreed), so against my better judgement, i got the guel filter assembly replaced since he says its faulty. It still surges. No error codes and i cleaned all sensors that i can access. Mechanic will spend a day with trooper to get a better idea of the issue sometime this week. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this in the past, or if anyone has any idea of what might be going on? Other than the surge, the car runs beautifully. Thanks in advance!
