front axel half boots 2002 jackaroo

any body heard of a half boot to fit front drive shaft  instead of removeing axel .i was told their use to be a split boot you could buy. any help or its 300 dollars to replace one boot .tjm said they could not do the job as it is a bit of a trick    regards reddog
