Oil in Spark Plug Tube

spark plug.jpg As some of you may have read about my 'experience' with getting a local mechanic to do my timing belt at 150,000 kms, the saga continues.

I had that feeling that the ute was not quite running right.  I had some issues where it stalled hot and cold.  I also saw the rev counter drop to about 450 then rev up to 1200 with water temps below 30o.

Sick of the mechanic I did my own checking of lpg filters and servicing egr's etc, still no love.  I also replaced the iridium spark plugs as they were due.

When I pulled cylinder 3,5,6 coils out to replace the spark plugs, there was oil all over the socket and spark plug.  The oil looks fresh.

The mechanic admitted to pressure washing the engine after there was an 'oil leak' and I thought this may have been the cause of the sluggish motor.  So I took it back today and they found a vacuum tube was not sealing properly.  I must say the motor feels a lot like it used to, but I have only done 10kms.

I am expecting a call back tomorrow after they do some homework.  So all they have done is replace the timing belt and check the tappets.

Any ideas where this oil is coming from?
