It's a great idea but the kits available are IMHO compromised (eg: 7th injector for fuelling, using the std rubber laminate crank pulley to drive) or expensive, or both.
A group of 3 of us in Perth are currently working thru the details of supercharging the 6VE1. We have a bare Jacka chassis with a 300000+ k 3.5 as a 'test mule' that pulled 135 RWHP on the dyno. A conservative 5psi boost is well within the stress tolerance of these engines and should see another 60-65 RWHP, and a good 30% more torque down low.
I have found someone who will cast a manifold to mount the standard Eaton M90 on our favourite V6, and a throttle body adaptor to mount the Isuzu TB on the SC - the minimum production run is 10 at $6800 - around $680 each.
This is the biggest hurdle to get across, I have 3 accounted for, would anyone else here be interested?
*UPDATE* We have made contact with the people in South Africa responsible for the Alpine kits. I can supply a contact in the US for the supercharger itself, currently they have some brand new M90s available for a bargain USD275, there are approx 20 only at that price.
We have just brought in 4 at a total cost of USD500 each including shipping via DHL.....bargain! I can help anyone interested with that as well
This isn't intended as a marketing ploy, we're just a bunch who love the underated Soozoo! We have full workshop & machining at our fingertips, and an EFI guru for that part, once we've done our own vehicles and supplied the bits for anyone else that wants in that'll be it.
