Got the dreaded Check 4WD at start-up (it goes out after ignition). Also when I shift into 4H or 4L the green lights on the dash just flash.
I opened the front actuator case and found water and muck. Cleaned it out, tested the little worm drive motor (it was OK) and then put it back together, tried resetting using the above seat and below seat instructions.
Still the front hubs won't lock and the dash still flashes when I go to either 4h or 4l.
Just wondering if there is gunk built up behind the locking pin (see the blue arrow) and that's what the problem is. The locking pin only inserts about 10-13mm, is this normal?
Should I remove the whole case and clean out behind the pin. If so can you point out which bolts to remove on the attached? I tried the 4 obvious bolts (in pick) but I couldn't remove, perhaps needed a tap from a hammer?
Any ideas? Next steps?
