Well, not quite pop-bang, and I'm not sure if the bang was just because the car stallled... here is the story.
Last service (5,000km and 5 weeks ago) was uneventful but then we got a dodgy batch of fuel or something. Check engine light went on, off by the time we got it back to the shop, clean and flush and everything was fine. (No error code available.)
Had the car serviced on Friday and Matt picked it up. Said there was a noticeable sluggishness and no turbo whine. Alby's new sneakers (Coopers STs) made a big difference to the racing slicks we've had for a little while.
I towed about 2.1 tonne yesterday on a short trip - nothing amiss to me but then again Matt calls me Captain Slow or Miss Daisy, depending on how late he is running and how many pieces he wants to arrive in...
Today I was towing 1.5t (yes, my mare weighs about 600kg) and as I was downshifting from 4th to 3rd to turn a corner, the car stalled. There was a big bang, but not sure if that was just the stall. Without being a girl about it - I don't stall very often, I don't miss gears very often, and I don't make things go bang very often. Well, less often than Matt anyway...
Check engine came on but no LHM, and I had to continue on another 20km up some pretty big hills. One hill I can do 80km towing 2 large horses, but was reduced to 70km in third with 2 small ponies...
Check engine light was still there a couple of hours later when Matt came to look, but the time we left pony club the light was off and it was still sluggish but not comotose.
Thoughts, ideas, commiserations at this point? Alby won't get to the shop til Wednesday but will be on light duties til then...
