Bought a 98 4JX1 at auction cheap.. good nick and lots of new bits.. BUT
It's been fitted with a new ( 2nd hand ) ECM. Consequently it won't start. The MIL gauge flashes. The error code is 56 - immobilizer.
Reading reading. It seems the security code in the immobilizer(ICU) has to match the one in the ECM. Something like that anyway. The ECM & ICU must be reflashed.
I have the impression that only GMH have the original 4 digit security codes, true? Are they needed?
A Tech2 will reflash the units, but there's some indication that whoever reflashes them must have the old codes.
In short, how do I fix this?
This can't be the first Jackeroo diesel in Australia that's been fitted with a used ECM from a wrecker, so what's the fix?
