I am going to do a coolant flush and change this weekend on my 4jx1 as I have not done this since I bought it about a year ago. Looking on the forums I found a bit of information, mainly in this thread: http://forum.australia4wd.com/index.php?/topic/8193-engine-coolant-drain-point/
Just a little confused as to which coolant I should be going with. The Nulon red coolant I was going to get has the OAT technology which was recommended in the above thread, however the green version with the HAT technology seems to comply with the HN2217 as required by the manual. At this stage I have a green coolant in the reservoir.
Is the colour simply a dye or is it a definitive standard as to HAT vs OAT? Is it more important to have the OAT or comply with the HN2217 requirement?
Whilst on the topic, my current plan is as follows:
Drain coolant, perform flush with MUKOWT, run engine with heater on for half hour, drain, refill with 50/50mix. Having not done this before, is there anything else I should be doing?
