Penrite HPR now synthetic

Hi all,

i am sure many of you Pentrite users are aware that their HPR oils are now fully synthetic.

I have been using HPR10 in my Jack since i bought it 4 years ago. A few months back i went to buy a bottle to do the 5k oil change and could only get the fully syn as opposed to the semi synthetic it always was. no biggie, changed the oil and all good, however i noticed that since using the full syn HPR10 my oil pressure is lower than on the previous semi syn version (going by the pressure gauge on the dash).

My engine uses a very minor amount between changes (never needs a top up) so i was curious as to why the drop in oil pressure. Today i went and bought a bottle of HPR15 which is also now a full synthetic oil, did the oil change and took it for a run. Low and behold my oil pressure is back up where it used to run with the semi HPR10.

I can only guess that because the synthetic oil feels thinner (more watery) than mineral oil, going to a higher viscosity appears to offset this compared to mineral or semi synthetic oils. Another point of intereset was
Ithat Penrite's lube guide now specifies HPR15 as opposed to the HPR10 it used to.

I guess the oil must be different for Penrite to suggest a higher viscosity.

Sorry for the rant but was curious as to others who have encountered a similar experience since the updated Penrite oils.
