Hi There folks
New chap here, new to this forum and new to the joys of a Holden Jackaroo.
I’ll stick to saying it is a joy to have this vehicle which we acquired just last week for a very good price. Jaqui (Yes, I know, not Jack, it is the wife’s run about) is going to serve our needs very well.
With a very low budget I needed a car that has 7 seats, comfortable, safe, can seat adults in the back seat with a child as well, and was nice to drive. Plus set up for towing.
Well, the Jackaroo fitted all of this and more, the only other contender was a Pajero, and sadly it has a strange back seat design that our elderly relo’s will have trouble with when an 8 year old in there as well.
The sale price was reduced due to the vehicle not running well, and I as a former 4wd mechanic who left the business in the mid 90’s, before these tricalogic vehicles hit the market, decided I could sort it out myself.
A bit of a learning curve ahead for me, which has meant that I hoped onto google and researched this vehicle and engine, and found this most helpful place.
It is due to this site that I was able to decide that my faults are to start with:
Leaking injector tube seals
Faulty ORPS
Wrong engine oil type
Dodgy oil filter for the high pressure supply side.
Tomorrow is the day when I get this components from my local Holden guy, who in turn has been most helpful and gave me print outs from the manual with all the procedures.
Also
Most importantly, a loan of the original Holden tool for the injector sleeve removal, for the cost of a box of beer. I’ll have it over the weekend when I get the job done I'll call into a machine shop friend to get the design to copy it.
Friday is when the hands get dirty, can’t wait.
I have decided that, a few dodgy O rings are not grounds for me to condemn a vehicle as good as this.
Hard bit will be:
Learning all the Acronyms on this site and manual
Learning the Sensors about the place.
But any way, let the games begin.
Sad that they stopped this fine vehicle in production, I see a lot around still.
To all of you who have taken the time to put the helpful information, including a Movie that I found, I say thanks and cheers.
The job will go smoothly, I am confident of it……..
By the way, I found a 3573 Page Manual for it titled "US VERSION, RIGHT HAND MODEL, EXP UBS" in pdf. Just not sure where I got it now....
