Jack on the cheap.

I, not long ago purchased a 94 jack as a work vehicle, for towing and paddock bashing. I'd love to "go bush" but circumstances preclude for now. I only paid $2K for the beastie but was pleasantly surprised in that I find it is an HSV. LOL. Anyway it starts and runs well. Given it's age the petrol engine seems tight enough (240,000Ks) and the auto trans is occasionally a little sluggish to engage first up in the morning.

Anyway I was also lucky enough to pick up two early (89 & 91) Jacks for $150. As my Brother in law also owns a 91 Jack, I felt that they would be useful spares. Now to the point of this post. One of them had a bull bar which I thought would be useful on mine, not to mention some decent rubber (legal wise, not sure of offroadability), so they've paid for themselves. I proceeded to remove the bar to mount onto the newer Jack. Of course it wasn't straight forward

The old Jack mounting points for the bar as intdicated by the black arrow. The Red Arrow shows the location for the newer Jacakroo, time for some quick planning. I dismantled the bumper bar from my Jack thinking that the original mounting brackets might work. Which they did beautifully.

As you can see, all that was needed were a few holes to be drilled and I now have a bull bar on my beastie.

Son, who works for a dealership, also managed to acquire some storage drawers out of an old Landcruiser which, with some minor "cut and shut" now fit very neatly in the back. (I did not take any piccies of that as I worked, so cannot show. So far, this car has cost me the princely sum of $2150. Can't complain too bitterly about that!!!

Ignore the number plates, theyh do not reflect the real rego anyway.
